Dorothy MacDiarmid

Dorothy MacDiarmid became a GSSF devotee over a decade ago when she danced Boca’s Ballroom Battle. After attending six colleges in four and a half years, then graduating Summa Cum Laude from Lynn University, Dorothy knows first hand students need all the support they can get while in college. So she easily connected with the incredible mission of GSSF while combining her love of fundraising with dancing. In fact, that connection inspired her further, as Dorothy kept dancing and won the United States Dance Championship in American Rhythm in 2021.

She loves volunteering with GSSF: reading scholarship applications, participating in scholar interviews, BBB dancer mentoring, baking cookies for care packages, serving on the Development committee & recently joining the board. She strives to be the best she can be and especially loves helping others reach their highest potential, too.

Dorothy has deep roots in community service. A fourth generation Junior Leaguer and past president of the Junior League of Boca Raton, her League career was bookended by earning the inaugural award for Outstanding First Year Active from the Junior League of Portland, ME and culminating with the Outstanding Sustainer of the Year Award from JLBR. With a successful history of leading large-scale volunteer community projects and fundraisers, and a background in public relations and politics, she is now establishing her burgeoning home remodeling business as a general contractor with the same creativity. She has three awesome children (Ian (27), Will (19) & Clare (17) and lives in Boca Raton with her crazy French Bulldogs, Dude, Paris & Sunny.

Dorothy thrives in learning new skills and working with diverse teams to achieve goals and is thrilled to partner with George Petrocelli to chair this year’s 19th Boca’s Ballroom Battle.
