Born in Philadelphia and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, New York, John Mulhall could never imagine growing up to be anything other than a lawyer. He attended St. Lawrence University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Varsity Swim Team. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Government from there in 1983, and went on to study law at The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University.
While at Dickinson Law, john met and fell in love with his wife, Lisa. Immediately following their marriage in 1987, the Mulhalls relocated to Boca Raton. Two and a half years later, John and Charlie Rutherford started the law firm that would become Rutherford Mulhall, P.A.
For nearly 20 years the firm’s team of professionals have been dedicated to developing and implementing practical and cost-effective solutions to their clients. John is the Head of Litigation at the firm and concentrates his practice in Marital and Family Law. John is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubbell; He is the co-founder of the Peaceful Divorce Project, whose professionals are dedicated to resolving marital disputes in ways that dignify families, rather than damaging them.
John is also active in the community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County and as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. He is past Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Place at Home Safe.
The Mulhalls live in Delray Beach and have three children. When he ditches the suit and tie, John can be found either exercising, coaching, swimming, skiing or tossing a football around with the boys. His milder pursuits include reading, swinging (he is a big fan of his backyard hammock) and DREAMING, all of which he most often engages in while listening to an iPod.
